The Founder

Ilya Chervony

Creator & Founder of American Chanson

Songwriter, composer, poet and music producer. His songs explore love, memory, humor, freedom and the lives unfolding along America's roads.

American Chanson is his vision for a home where storytelling comes first — and where other artists can eventually share that vision.

The Movement
Our Philosophy

The Song Comes First.

“A voice. A story. A melody. Music about people — their choices, their memories, their dreams, and the roads they take.”
An Open Musical World

I Want Today

By Ilya Chervony · American Chanson

Read lyrics
They say I live in dreams and songs In little places I belong But all I write, and all I sing Comes from the life I've really seen I've seen hello, I've seen goodbye I've seen a tear in someone's eye A little sunshine, little rain A little joy, a little pain I don't want to live in later I don't want to wait my turn Love is waiting here this moment Why should I let it burn? If your heart is saying "go now" Don't let tomorrow steal today I don't want to live in later I want today My songs are made of passing trains Old photographs and window panes Of people walking through my life Leaving laughter, leaving sighs And every year goes rolling by Like clouds across a quiet sky The moments that we leave behind Are never easy to rewind I don't want to live in later I don't want to wait my turn Love is waiting here this moment Why should I let it burn? If your heart is saying "go now" Don't let tomorrow steal today I don't want to live in later I want today We always think there's time enough Another call, another touch But time keeps moving anyway While we are looking away I don't want to live in later I don't want to wait my turn Hold the ones you love a little closer Before the pages turn If your heart is saying "go now" Don't let tomorrow steal today I don't want to live in later I want today I don't want to live in later I want today
